[QUOTE] Christoph Niemann on Simplicity

At the recent Airline & Aerospace MRO & Operations IT Conference in Miami I showcased a new app by Christoph Niemann called Petting Zoo. I don’t think I made a very good job of pointing out the impact the Touch Screen Generation was going to have on the aviation industry in 15 years, but I was interested to see a write up by Christoph Niemann in the New Yorker on the story of his app.

In his article there is a brilliant line which sums up perfectly some of what I have been trying to express for the past 3 years on simplicity.

Simplicity is not about making something without ornament, but rather about making something very complex, then slicing elements away, until you reveal the very essence.

[SLIDES] Whatever happened to eTechlogs?

Here are the slides from my presentation on etechlogs from the Aircraft Commerce Airline & Aerospace MRO & Operations IT Conference on 20th March 2013.

I gave a case study on the pros and cons of implementing and using an electronic techlog which some people may call and electronic logbook or journey log.
